The new factory for John Gosnell on Malling Brooks has shot up over the summer and the “Soap Factory” will move to its new eco-friendly home at the end of the year.  Several other tenants from Phoenix Industrial Estate are also moving to new units at Malling Brooks as part of the North Street Quarter regeneration scheme.

Lewes District Council recently finalised the purchase of Springman House on North Road. This is where the new fire and ambulance station will be built. The co-location of both emergency services will enable the old fire station within the North Street Quarter site to close, making way for the £180 million North Street Quarter development.

The final stage of the public consultation on how Malling Fields and Pells Recreation Ground should be upgraded took place in July.  There was a lot of input from residents which the landscape architects used to shape the proposals.  They are now finalising the plans before submitting for planning approval.  These will be available to view on this website soon.

The new skate park in Malling Fields was opened in May and skaters from near and far have been making the most of this fantastic facility over the long summer days.

On the site itself – while there’s not much to see just yet, there is plenty of activity behind the scenes.  Our main focus is making sure that we meet all the conditions of the planning approval set by the South Downs National Park Authority.  Once these conditions have been discharged, the demolition of buildings in the area to be developed first – known as Phase 1a – can progress.  We are expecting this to be within the next few months, but will keep you posted.

In the meantime please do feel free to contact us with any questions at info@northstreetqtr.co.uk
